NECESSARY EVIL, Australian Doctor (27 May 2011)

With reference to your article 'Med school entry tests' (5 May), if you were to carry out a survey of doctors by asking the question "Do you think medical school exams at university can predict who is going to be a good doctor?", you would also find that the majority would say "unlikely".

The fact is, no one likes exams and tests but they are a necessary part of education, just as competitions are necessary to find out who excels at any endeavour (sporting, business, intellectual).
