MedEntry UCAT Exam Percentile Rankings

Monitoring4

UCAT scores may look complicated, but essentially all they do is compare your performance against other UCAT candidates. Therefore, to understand how you are performing in UCAT, you need an indication of how your performance compares to others.

MedEntry makes this easy by converting your raw UCAT practice exam results into percentile rankings. These percentiles compare your performance against other UCAT candidates who have completed the same UCAT practice exam.

You will be provided with a UCAT percentile ranking for each of the five UCAT subtests, as well as an overall UCAT percentile ranking for the exam.

Your percentile rankings are calculated by comparing your UCAT result with the UCAT results of other MedEntry students. For example, if 10 students complete an exam, the top score will receive a percentile of 100, and the 6th score will receive a percentile of 60:

To improve accuracy of percentile rankings, UCAT practice exam attempts completed within the allocated time limit are only compared to other UCAT practice exams completed within the time limit. This ensures that your UCAT percentile rankings will not suffer if other students spend longer than recommended on a specific UCAT subtest, or overall on the UCAT exam.

Practice exam attempts completed outside of the time limits are compared to all UCAT exam attempt scores in the database. However, keep in mind that they may be an inaccurate indication of your performance.

It is recommended that UCAT exams are completed in a single sitting, and within the following time limits to best simulate the live UCAT exam, and to increase the accuracy of your percentile rankings:

You are also allowed 60 seconds to view the instructions at the beginning of each UCAT subtest. The timer begins when the first question is viewed, and ends when the “Continue to next subtest” button is pressed at the end of each UCAT subtest.

In order to account for time spent loading the exam and submitting your answers, a small grace period of 2 minutes per UCAT subtest is allowed. If the grace period is exceeded, your UCAT exam attempt will be considered as completed outside of timed conditions.

MedEntry also provides significant additional UCAT feedback, including detailed graphs comparing your UCAT performance to other students, and information about your performance in each particular UCAT question type.
