UCAT Prep Grant for Rural Victorians

According to the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare, people in remote areas of Australia are less likely to have a GP nearby and even less likely to have a specialist. Studies have also shown that individuals who have experience living in rural and regional locations often return to these areas to pursue their professional careers. Therefore, there is a clear need to encourage students living in rural and regional priority areas who are interested in studying medicine to pursue their dream of becoming a doctor.
RWAV MedEntry UCAT Preparation Grant
For this reason, MedEntry is proud to partner with the Rural Workforce Agency Victoria (RWAV) to help widen access into medicine for rural students. RWAV is a government-funded organisation established to improve healthcare in rural, remote and Indigenous areas.

Eligibility for RWAV MedEntry UCAT Preparation Grant
Applicants must be high school students currently studying in year 12 and confirm they are studying or have studied Units 3 and 4 English (EAL) or English other than EAL and Unit 3 and 4 Chemistry.
Applicants’ main residence or school must be in a rural Victoria MMM 3-7 location. To check your MMM location:
- Visit the Doctor Connect Health Workforce Locator page
- In the Classification Filter, select Modified Monash Model 2019
- In the search bar, type in your address
This will give you the MMM rating for your area.
Applicants must also be:
- able to provide proof of address
- considering applying to study at Monash University in Victoria
- Australian Citizens or Permanent Residents
Applicants must display a strong passion for rural health and rural communities.
Applying for RWAV MedEntry UCAT Preparation Grant
To apply, first create an RWAV account and visit the RWAV grants page. From there, read the student guidelines and apply for the Student University Clinical Aptitude Test Exam Preparation Grant. You will need some means of identification to complete the application.
