GCSE Requirements

GCSE Requirements for Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry are:

  • Maths - Grade 6 minimum (Additional Mathematics or Statistics also acceptable)
  • English - Grade 6 minimum
  • Chemistry and Biology/Human Biology - Grade 6 minimum (Double Award Science is acceptable)
  • Other requirements - 777666 minimum in Biology (or Human Biology), Chemistry, English Language, and Mathematics. The Science Double Award may substitute all sciences at GCSE

GCSEs are not scored. Only minimum requirements needed

A-levels or Scottish Higher requirements.

A*AA at A level including Chemistry or Biology and a second science subject (Chemistry, Biology, Physics or Maths). Any third A level can be taken except for General Studies or Critical Thinking, or Further Maths if Maths is taken too.

AAA in Scottish Highers, including Biology and Chemistry. Grades AA in Advanced Highers in two of the subjects offered at Scottish Highers, including Chemistry and/or Biology

International Baccalaureate

37 points with a minimum of 6 points in the Higher level science subjects and 6 points in the third Higher level subject. Three subjects are required, including Chemistry or Biology and one other science or mathematical subject at Higher level, and three subjects at Standard level including Chemistry or Biology, if not offered at the Higher level.

Graduate Applicant Degree Requirements

A minimum 2:1 (upper second-class honours) undergraduate bachelor degree (or international equivalent) in a Molecular or Biomedical Sciences related degree.
