Personal Statement
Your personal statement is an important part of your application to Oxford. It allows you to tell us about your interests, achievements and ambitions in your own words. Although we do not formally score your statement we read it carefully. If you are invited for interview, the statement is likely to provide a focus for the questions that you are asked.
Academic Requirements
GCSE Requirements
No formal GCSE requirements, however, in order to be adequately equipped for the application process and for the academic demands of the course, applicants will need to have received a basic education in Biology, Physics and Mathematics. For example, students should have received at least a grade C/4 at GCSE, Intermediate 2 or Standard grade (Credit) or equivalent.
A-levels or Scottish Higher requirements.
A*AA at A level achieved in one sitting, to include Chemistry, plus at least one of Biology, Physics or Maths. Critical Thinking, Thinking Skills and General Studies are not counted towards the academic requirements.
AAAAA at Scottish Highers.
AA in Advanced Highers including Chemistry and at least one of Biology, Physics or Maths.
International Baccalaureate
39 points, including core points, with 766 at Higher Level including Chemistry and at least one of Biology, Physics or Maths.
Graduate Applicant Degree Requirements
Students with degrees may apply for the standard course. There are no places specifically reserved for graduates, and there is no separate application process. Graduates are in open competition with school-leavers, and need to fulfil the same entrance requirements.
