We encourage you to attend a 2-day MedEntry UCAT Preparation Workshop even if you have to travel a long distance. Many students from other cities, interstate, and overseas, travel to attend our UCAT workshops because there are several benefits of attending. Our students come from all over the globe, from over 45 countries including Singapore, Hong Kong, South Africa, Dubai, UK and Canada.

But don't just take our word for it, check out the hundreds of glowing Google and Facebook reviews of our workshops posted by our happy and successful students. We have more and higher ratings than every university in Australia! MedEntry's Sydney, Melbourne and Ireland offices have over 1000 reviews at a star rating of about 4.8+, far exceeding that of any university. It is common to hear the following feedback: 'The best lecture I have ever attended'.

Three of the main benefits of the MedEntry 2 day workshop are:

  1. Learn strategies for approaching the UCAT questions

The study guides on the online LMS (Learning Management System) do provide detailed approaches to different UCAT question types, but it is always more effective to be taught this information than simply to work through it yourself – after all, according to the psychiatrist William Glasser, we learn 10% of what we read, but 50% of what we see and hear!

The UCAT workshop highlights what kind of approaches to questions are the most important, and what types of UCAT questions are the most common. This allows you to make the most of all the resources provided by MedEntry, and perform as well as possible on the UCAT. In evaluations, MedEntry students say that they either did not use the resources on the LMS, or did not know how to efficiently and effectively use them, until they attended a MedEntry UCAT Preparation Workshop.

Additionally, some inside knowledge and information that is not available elsewhere is provided at the UCAT workshop. You will also find that many of the skills that you learn at the UCAT workshop are transferrable, and useful for school and university study.

  1. Motivation

Attending a MedEntry UCAT Preparation Workshop provides motivation to perform well on the UCAT, as it can make the whole UCAT process feel clearer and more real.

You will also meet fellow students with similar interests and passions. This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your thinking skills and to form new friendships and study groups, as well as being a great source of motivation.

Additionally, you will hear from current medical students about how they used MedEntry to obtain excellent scores on the UCAT, as well as what to expect from studying at university. It is an invaluable opportunity to hear first-hand tips from people who have gone through it all before, and to be able to ask any burning questions you might have about the UCAT or university!

  1. Mini-tests, and a further full-length online trial exam

The course aims to demonstrate the best principles and strategies needed to succeed in the UCAT. Students attending the workshop attempt short mini-tests in each UCAT section to give the students hands-on experience and allow the lecturer to clearly demonstrate the application of speed and accuracy techniques to each type of question found in the UCAT.

Students will also attempt a further full-length test on a simulated computer platform at a specific time, exactly as in the real UCAT.

This is immensely helpful for a number of reasons:

- You will have a much better idea of what to expect from the experience of sitting the actual UCAT exam.

- You will be able to see how your scores compare to fellow MedEntry students, and how they are predicted to compare to those of everyone taking the exam.

- You will be able to determine your strengths and weaknesses; on what sections you need to focus the most, how to plan your UCAT preparation, and how to plan your approach in the UCAT itself. Remember that wherever you are currently at is just a starting point; it’s incredible what it is possible to achieve with practice – and MedEntry provides all the resources to allow you to practice in the most effective way possible!

Further benefits of the MedEntry UCAT 2-day workshop include:

  • Learn how to use the LMS efficiently and effectively
  • Invest in your future by enhancing your thinking skills that will be useful throughout your career
  • Interact with other like-minded students which will help develop your thinking skills
  • Network with motivated and able students from various schools in your city, other states and overseas – many of whom will be your colleagues in medical school
  • Discuss numerous past UCAT questions and efficient, effective and elegant ways of arriving at the answer

Attending a MedEntry UCAT Preparation Workshop is an invaluable opportunity that will allow you to achieve your best possible score on the UCAT.

The UCAT and interview preparation courses are run by doctors and professors with decades of teaching experience and UCAT expertise.

Our primary lecturer Dr Edward is an academic with over thirty years of experience teaching in Australian universities. He has published several articles on educational research, delivered numerous papers/keynote addresses at several international Teaching and Learning Conferences. He has received numerous awards for teaching excellence. He has a long-standing interest in Psychometric measurement and spent time at educational research institutes such as the ETS (Princeton, USA), NFER (Slough, UK), and EAA (UNSW, Australia). Ed also lectured at several universities in various countries such as Brazil, Finland, Germany, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Sweden, USA and UK. He has been a Consultant and an Expert Witness for several organisations.

Dr Edward has been training students for tests such as the UCAT for over two decades. Among his successful students include his own children, both of whom were offered places in all medical schools in Australia and were awarded the Monash Scholarship for Outstanding Achievement (awarded to the best incoming student each year). They also received numerous other awards, accolades and achievements such as the "Youth of the Year" (State winners & National Finalists in 2001 and 2003); Premier's Awards; Australian Students Prizes for Excellence; School Captains of Selective Entry Schools; ATAR scores of 99.9; "Achiever of the Year" (awarded for the most outstanding co-curricular and community involvement to a Year 12 student each year in the state); Gold Medals in the University of NSW International Competitions and Assessments for Schools (ICAS); numerous awards for excellence in public speaking; Caltex Best All-rounder Awards; State level Debaters; perfect scores in UCAT; graduation in Medicine with First Class Honours etc.

They are not only the youngest doctors to be accepted into the training programs of the most competitive of medical specialties, but have also won medals for obtaining the top score in the country in the specialist training theory and clinical exams held by Royal Colleges (eg., see RACP News, Vol 32, No 2, April 2012, p27). His daughter won an unprecedented three medals in the nationwide Fellowship exams ('The Mole' ACD Issue 102, Spring 2014, p 8, 18; Health Link, Dec 2014 Issue 19, p 14). They are both currently working as Consultant Specialists. Dr Edward will aim to pass on to you the advice he gave his children which contributed to their unparalleled success. Dr Edward comes from a family of 28 doctors over four generations.

Dr Edward is a member of International Society for Intelligence Research, International Test Commission and an invited member of numerous professional organisations related to psychometric, educational, aptitude and personality testing. He is also Practice Manager of a Medical Centre and has a wide knowledge of the health profession and health-related issues.

Other lecturers who run the MedEntry UCAT courses have similar background and expertise.

A timetable is available for the UCAT 2-Day Workshop Course.

Starting and finishing times are subject to change so you should refer to the email that is sent to you before your UCAT course for exact times.

The course aims to maximise the amount of time demonstrating principles, techniques and strategies to tackle the UCAT questions. Students attending the workshop will therefore attempt a short Mock UCAT so that the lecturer can demonstrate techniques to optimise speed and accuracy.
Further, students will also attempt a further full length mock UCAT on a simulated computer platform at a specific time (with results made available immediately), exactly as in the live UCAT. They will also have access to fully worked solutions to all questions and video solutions to the more challenging questions.

Registration will usually take place between 8:45 am and 9:15 am each day and the course will finish at 4:30 pm on both days.

Some workshops may begin earlier or later on either day. Please carefully check the email that is sent to you in the day or two prior to your workshop.

Please remember to bring:

  • Your Workshop confirmation email (note: if you do not have this, you may still be allowed to attend the course)
  • Your lunch, morning tea etc.
  • Pens and paper
  • A calculator

If the live UCAT is the Olympics, MedEntry Courses represent your coach and training, and what you do at home is similar to going to the gym to work out before you come for training. So we advise some preparation before coming to the workshop.

You may attend any Workshop that is convenient to you. However, we recommend avoiding attending workshops during the January, April and July school holidays as these workshops are heavily booked.

Was this helpful?

If you prefer to attend a Workshop with a smaller class size, please choose a non-school holiday (shown as 'Weekend Course') workshop. We recommend avoiding attending Workshops in the January, April and July school holidays as these workshops are heavily booked.

The numbers in some 'non-school holiday' Workshops can be as few as ten students. You may also wish to consider attending Workshops in smaller cities (e.g. Newcastle, Gold Coast) as the number of students attending there will be low.

The exact location of your UCAT Course will be emailed to you about two days prior to the Course. You will be provided with a map (if available) plus what materials you will need to bring.

The locations of the UCAT Courses have been carefully chosen. Where possible, we have chosen a central city location which is easy to travel to using public or private transport, and one which has good facilities and amenities nearby.

For the most up to date information about your UCAT Course, please log into your MyMedentry profile and click on the '2 Day Workshop' or 'Interview Training Session' button. This page will display all your bookings. If you have made a booking click on the 'Event Details' button to display the time, date and exact location of your Course.

If you have to travel a long distance to attend a course because you are living in another city, state or country, you will find hotel/motel accommodation by searching on the internet. We are unable to advise on this matter.

However, BEFORE you make such travel arrangements, we strongly advise you to email us and confirm that the course that you intend to attend will in fact, proceed. The UCAT courses (particularly in smaller cities), may be cancelled since the running of such courses may be subject to minimum numbers or courses may be changed for scheduling/strategic reasons. In some instances, some courses may be cancelled due to circumstances beyond our control.

Unfortunately MedEntry cannot accept any responsibility for any travel arrangements made, if you do not confirm with us beforehand.
